Virginia C. Todd, 53, of Jackson died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 27, 1956, in St. Louis, daughter of Donald Robert and Virginia Charlotte Mensinger Adams. She and Dennis J. Todd were married Sept. 9, 1978, in St. Louis County.

Todd was a graduate of Mehlville High School in South St. Louis County and received an associate of applied science degree in computer science from Southeast Missouri State University in 1977. She was currently a systems coordinator at Saint Francis Medical Center, where she had been employed more than 18 years.

She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ. Todd was also a Boy Scout volunteer with the Shawnee District of the Greater St. Louis Council, serving the district and council in many capacities.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis J. Todd of Jackson; parents, Donald and Virginia Adams of St. Louis County; son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas J. and Lesley Todd of Jackson; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ray Rath of St. Peters, Mo.; and a grandson, Alexander J. Todd.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Boy Scouts of America Greater St. Louis Council.

Troy James Hays
September 7, 1981-January 9, 2008

Troy James Hays, 26, of Sparta, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008.

He was born Sept. 7, 1981, in Creve Coeur, Mo., son of James and Ruth Poddig Hays.

Troy currently taught math, English and physical education, and coached the girls varsity basketball and boys varsity baseball teams at Bradleyville High School. He was a member of MSTA and had been senior class sponsor the past two years. He was a member of Whitewater Baptist Church at Patton.

Troy enjoyed motorcycles and all sports, especially basketball and baseball. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Troy was especially devoted to his son and girlfriend.

Survivors include his parents, Ruth and James Hays of Patton; his girlfriend, Ashley Parres of Sparta; a son, Thomas James Hays of Sparta; a brother, Dustin Hays and wife Michelle of Tennessee; a sister, Brandy Ratcliff and husband Randy of Patton; a nephew, Tristan Ratcliff of Patton; grandparents, Shirley Burns of Festus, Mo., James and Janice Hays of Patton, and Betty Poddig of Illinois; a great-grandmother, Irene Ivy of Affton, Mo.; future in-laws, Tom and Debby Parres of Jackson; Jennifer and Ryan Shelton of Tennessee; Kelly Parres and Josh Birk, Lesley and Nick Todd, Whitney Parres and Seth Bollinger, all of Jackson; and many family and friends.

Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Poddig, Lynnis Burns and Mary and Bernie Parres.

Lesley Parres and Nicholas Todd were married Oct. 7, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. Monsignor Ed Eftink and the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer performed the ceremony. Pianist was Jerry Ganiel, and vocalist was Ron Hitt.

Parents of the couple are Thomas and Debora Parres and Dennis and Virginia Todd of Jackson.

Maid of honor was Ashley Parres of Springfield, Mo., and matron of honor was Jennifer Shelton of Cordova, Tenn., sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kelly and Whitney Parres of Jackson, sisters of the bride.

Daniel Rath of St. Peters, Mo., cousin of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were A.P. Woods, Jonathan Compas and Seth Bollinger of Jackson. Ushers were Ryan Shelton of Cordova, brother-in-law of the bride, and Josh Birk of Jackson.

Flower girl was Megan Brown of Perryville, Mo., cousin of the bride. Ringbearer was Tanner Slinkard of Jackson, cousin of the groom.

Miranda Brown of Perryville handed out programs. Michelle Otte of Cape Girardeau handed out flowers.

Leah Lappe of Jackson attended the guest book.

The reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson.

The rehearsal dinner was held at Emmanuel United Church of Christ fellowship hall in Jackson.

Mrs. Todd is a 2000 graduate of Jackson High School, and received a bachelor of science in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University in 2005. She is a first grade teacher with Jackson School District at North Elementary.

The groom is a 2001 graduate of Jackson High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in technical graphics from Southeast. He is a graphic designer with Jansco Outdoor.

After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple resides in Jackson.

JACKSON, Mo. - A bomb threat at the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse gives Jackson Police a very serious, but pretty easy case to solve.

"There was a threat that a man would come into the courthouse at nine this morning with a bomb in his shoe," says Jackson Police Chief James Humphreys, "Of course we take every threat seriously in this day and age."

Some quick detective work by Jackson investigators helped make not one, but two arrests. "The detectives actually recognized the voice of the caller because they deal with the individual so often, they were able to identify his voice," says Humphreys.

Prosecutors charged 23-year-old Duane Haffner and 21-year-old Leotis Allen with the Class C felony of making a terroristic threat. Further charges are on the way from federal prosecutors.

Well, it my birthday again. Another year older. It just seems like any old day. I could have spent the day in bed. With company this weekend, I got up early both days. I'm just tired. My boss took the guys and me out to eat at Mazzio's for lunch. It was a little better than what I brought, but I'd probably be happy with what I brought anyway. Oh well. At least tonight will be better. Lesley will make it a good night and Prison Break comes back tonight.

Well, RAW was pretty good this time. I got to see a lot more superstars that I wanted to, and can cross them off my list of wanting to see them. Particularly, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Ric Flair. It was real good times. The only real down side (other than the Rosie vs. Trump match) was my coughing. The good news is last night I got a shot in my ass from Kelly along with some meds. I've been doing good today, but my right ribs hurts (especially when [or if] I cough). I'm am really sleepy when I take my thick Tussionex. With that said I'm going to watch Diggnation now.

New Year

Well, it's a new year. Everything feels the same though. We had a good Xmas and New Years parties at our house. On New Years, I got a little inebriated and Josh got flat out drunk. I recovered, but Josh wasn't doing so hot last night either. Lesley says that this will probably be the last party for a little while. All I know is that Buffalo Trace is good, even though Josh might not drink half the bottle next time.

Graduation and other things

Well, I finally graduated from SEMO, even though I'm still waiting on my diploma before I'm too excited. I'm going to be glad to be done with classes. Now I can focus on other things like my job and stuff. We're building a bar in Manland [my basement]. We've got it quite a bit done. It should be ready for New Years.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Mary A. "Lolly" Parres, 79, of Perryville died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at her home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1927, in St. Louis, daughter of Roy Earl and Elizabeth Susan Upshaw Ritchey. She and T. Bernie Parres Sr. were married May 29, 1950. He died Nov. 28, 2004.

Parres was a customer service manager 10 years at Wal-Mart. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Parres Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Mary Ann Parres of Chicago; two brothers, Martin Ritchey of Jefferson City, Mo., Thomas Ritchey of Ironton, Mo.; three sisters, Delores Riney of Jackson, Marion McClure of Perryville, Ruth Long of Kansas City, Mo.; five granddaughters; and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 6:30 to 9:40 a.m. Saturday. The parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday, and the rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

We got married on the 7th. Everything went smooth. It was a great ceremony. The only real hiccup was the D.J. Everyone left by 10 p.m. All in all, it was a good time though. On our honeymoon, we went to a Sandals in Jamaica. I miss laying on the beach when it's now 60s and cloudy.

I thought I wanted a mac before. They've got OS X, iLife, and everything else that's cool. Now, not only do I want a Mac, I want a new iPod. I watched the Apple special event, 'It's Showtime', and it makes me want a new iPod. They're bigger (80 GB), cheaper, and better than before. That Steve Jobs is a smart guy. iTunes 7 makes flipping through albums cool too. Not to mention they're selling movies now. They always come up with stuff to make computing and life better don't they?

Housing Situation

The housing situations suck right now. First the guy building our house was going to build it his way with subcontractors, so we were going to get a duplex. Then he will build it how we want it, still thinking of getting a duplex. Now I think he'll build it the way we want, but in much less time than we can get a lease for (built=4 months;lease=9 months). So we might be without a built hose (for a while?) with limited choices of a place to live in the mean time (don't want to live with either parents). I guess it might get figured out tonight or tomorrow?

Well, finals are all over. If all went well I passed my classes. I walk in graduation on Saturday. Two more weeks I will be quitting Wal-Mart and starting my new job at Jansco Outdoor. I'm on my way.

Weekend In Memphis

It was a pretty good weekend. Friday we spent Cinco de Mayo by eating taco and drinking margaritas. We went to our Catholic marriage class. it was kind of interesting, but a little boring. For dinner we went to Bahama Breeze (I had a cuban sandwich). Sunday we all went to the Memphis Redbirds game. Although they lost, it was a good game. It was a fun weekend.

Yesterday Lesley and I got our engagement pictures done. The clouds were out and it was a little bit chilly but they turned out nice I think.

Supershow

The supershow yesterday was pretty good. We tried the new Coke Blak. It was ok. I wouldn't try it again though. Smackdown! wasn't that good. I'll let everyone figure that out on friday. RAW was good though. Undertaker was there (against John Cena). We ate at Hooters in Union Station for lunch. I didn't hardly see us on TV (or our signs). I think I saw Jonathan's sign once. We saw Joey Styles, The King, and J.R. going to the hotel on our way home last night.

I drank some Vault today. It doen't seem much different than soda does. it kinda tastes like strawberry kiwi kool-aid.

WWE Supershow

We're going to see the WWE Supershow in St. Louis on the 17th of April. It should be pretty cool. We get to see all the superstars together and both RAW and Smackdown. We're in section 108 row GG. We also get to see
